How often is Today’s Teen Writer updated?
About once a month, I update the content adding a new article or two. Two to three times a month, I check out the comments and make sure nothing’s been mistakenly labeled spam.
Why isn’t TTW updated more often?
Because I’m a writer, too.
Besides blogging here, I write and submit my own work regularly. I do web design projects and I blog at DebraWeiss.net. I do all this in addition to living with a complex medical condition.
Keeping up with everything leaves me pretty tired. So one day I had to make a choice, I could either shut down the site entirely or I could just pace myself and write for the site once a month. Since I love and believe in TTW, I chose to keep it open.
Where do you get your ideas?
Real life. I often look at my life – what I’ve learned, what I’m learning. What I want to know. Then I take that information and share it with other people. I’m a bit like a sponge. I love to learn.
How do you get permission to interview authors?
I just ask them. Usually the authors are super nice and willing to be interviewed. I conduct all interviews via email because that keeps it simple and makes it easy to share with my readers. I just go through and add special formatting (like if an author says something really cool I might bold that statement).
Can I submit an article?
Sure! I’d love to see your work, especially if you’re a teenage writer. You can email me with your ideas or you can go ahead and submit it if you feel your piece would go well with the tone of the site.
My name is Debra Weiss and I’m the editor of Today’s Teen Writer. The only thing I enjoy as much as writing is writing about writing.
